Does anyone have a refresher about those tournaments within the tournaments for the NBA? The names change every season and it confuses me.

First up you have the Emirates NBA Cup. This is the tournament within the tournament that happens early on, around December.
Next, you have the SoFi Play-In Tournament. This is the one that happens right before the playoffs, where the 7th-10th seeds play against each other for the final slots for the postseason.
The Emirates NBA Cup has no bearing to the season, while the SoFi Play-In is kind of like the wild card tournament of other leagues in a sense that it is crucial to the playoffs.
